MEDA’s Ukraine Horticulture Development Project (UHDP) in The Republic of the Crimea and The Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Southeast Ukraine goal was to improve small farmers’ income through improving support services and linkages to markets. During the project, MEDA established Argo Capital Management Limited (ACM), a leasing firm to meet the financing needs of local farmers. ACM offers farm equipment financing/leasing services, value chain financing, agribusiness business planning support (e.g. loan applications), and agriculture lending product design support for financial institutions.
MEDA invested $1.2 million in ACM, this leveraged approximately $6 million in total (small and larger) farmer investments in agricultural equipment. The project reached 5,000 farmers.
